Help & Support

For further help and assistance you will need to contact the IT Services.

Starting today, you can upgrade your ArcGIS Pro to version 2.5. It is now available in English – if you use English in ArcGIS Pro, the application will notify you of the new version when you start it. ArcGIS Pro should then offer the update itself.

ArcGIS Notebooks

Laptops are now available directly in ArcGIS Pro. You can write Python code, analyze the data, and see the results right away. Standard libraries, ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python, as well as NumPy and pandas are available. With laptops, you can automate your processes and share laptops with others on the portal.

Geodatabase replication

ArcGIS Pro includes tools for working with distributed geodatabases. You can create replicas, manage them, and sync changes. There is also a Manage Replicas window and a context menu on the geodatabase.

Color management and advanced offset printing options

In ArcGIS Pro, color management can be enabled using ICC color profiles, which helps, for example, work with colors in CMYK mode. It is also possible to define spot colors and set symbol overprint.

Geoprocessing and analysis

In this version of ArcGIS Pro you will find more than 80 new tools. Among the most interesting are for example Create Space Time Cube from Multidimensional Raster Layer or Colocation Analysis.

Running geoprocessing tools can be scheduled for a certain time, or even run at regular intervals. Exporting models to Python is also improved.

In graphs in ArcGIS Pro (with axes) it is possible to zoom in on any viewport and move it in the graph.

Cartodiagrams

For point, line and polygon elements, you can turn on representation of attribute data in the form of a graph. Pie, bar and stacked charts are available.

Work with map and visualization

  • You can use the Find and Replace tool (Ctrl + F) in the attribute table. You can also freeze the selected columns so that they will still be visible in the table as you move the view.
  • You can use image attachments and enhanced style options in reports.
  • The cartographic display of Adams Square II can be set up in the form of a so-called Spilhaus map, which in an unconventional way shows the oceans as a uniform surface.
  • When working with annotations, you can use more features to better position and move them.
  • Match Layer Symbology To A Style helps you set symbols for unique values faster – we specify an attribute field with category names in the tool. The tool searches a specific style and assigns symbols that are named the same to each category.
  • In the map and in the scene, it is possible to use a new Camera properties window, which allows you to set precise values of the camera position, eventually its height, inclination and orientation for the 3D scene.
  • It is possible to use drawing files as templates for map compositions. If you place these templates in one directory, they can automatically appear in the menu for inserting a new drawing.
  • It is also possible to modify the positions of individual vertexes of map frames or text and graphics frames in the drawing. You can create more complex shapes.
  • You can also print and export to PDF in the background.

Install ArcGIS Pro

After you download ArcGIS Pro and optional components, and review the system requirements, you are ready to install the software.

You can make either a per-machine installation (the default) or a per-user installation of ArcGIS Pro. A per-machine installation allows any user to run ArcGIS Pro on the computer on which it is installed. A per-user installation allows only the user who installs it to run the application.

The default installation location for a per-machine installation is <System Drive>\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro. The default installation location for a per-user installation is <System Drive>\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\ArcGIS\Pro.

To make a per-user installation on supported Windows Server operating systems, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer must contain the REG_DWORD data type DisableMSI, with a value of 0. For more information, see the Microsoft help topic DisableMSI.

Install ArcGIS Pro and optional components

You must install ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Pro Intelligence before installing optional components.

ArcGIS Pro Intelligence is a solution product for intelligence professionals that is available to all ArcGIS Pro users. It is not installed by default. However, you have the option to install ArcGIS Pro Intelligence in addition to (or instead of) ArcGIS Pro.

Follow the steps below to install ArcGIS Pro:

  1. Browse to the location where you downloaded ArcGIS Pro. Double-click the executable (.exe) file to start the installation process.
  2. Accept the destination folder to which files are extracted or click Browse to browse to a different folder.

The default destination folder is <System Drive>\Users\<username>\Documents\ArcGIS Pro <version>.

  3. Click Next.

A message informs you when the files have been successfully extracted. The Launch the setup program check box is checked by default.

If you want to install the software later, uncheck the Launch the setup program check box. When you're ready to install, browse to the destination folder and double-click ArcGISPro.msi.

  4. Click Close.
  5. On the Welcome to the ArcGIS Pro Setup program window, click Next.
  6. Review the license agreement and choose an option:
    • If you agree to the terms, click the option to accept the agreement and click Next.
    • If you do not agree to the terms, click Cancel to exit the installation.
  7. Choose an installation context option:
    • Click Anyone who uses this computer (the default) for a per-machine installation.
    • Click Only for me for a per-user installation.

You must have administrative privileges to make a per-machine installation.

  8. Click Next.
  9. Select whether to install ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro Intelligence, or both.

By default, ArcGIS Pro is installed and ArcGIS Pro Intelligence is not installed.

  10. Accept the default location of <System Drive>\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\ or click Change to specify a different folder.

If you choose a non-default location, it is recommended that the path include a folder and not be the root location of a drive. The modified path does not append \ArcGIS\Pro\ by default.

  11. Click Next.

The option to participate in the Esri User Experience Improvement is checked by default. Uncheck the box if you don't want to participate. (You can change your participation status after ArcGIS Pro is installed.)

  12. Click Install.

When the installation is completed, the option to Run ArcGIS Pro now is checked by default. Uncheck the box if you don't want to start the application immediately.

  13. Click Finish.

Follow the same process to install optional components you have downloaded, such as the offline help system. The offline help system can be installed for ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro Intelligence, or both.

You need an authorized license to use ArcGIS Pro. By default, you start ArcGIS Pro with a Named User license. However, if your organization uses a different license type, you may need to start ArcGIS Pro with a Concurrent Use license or a Single Use license.

Uninstall ArcGIS Pro

Uninstall ArcGIS Pro using either the Control Panel or Windows Settings.

Access the Control Panel from the Start menu or search box. Select ArcGIS Pro from the list of programs and features, click Uninstall/Change, and then choose the Remove option.

Alternatively, access the Windows Settings from the Start menu. Navigate to Apps & features, select ArcGIS Pro in the list of programs, click Uninstall, and then choose the Remove option.

Download, install, and authorize

The first steps to getting started with ArcGIS Pro are to download, install, and authorize the application. For more information about download and installation, see the FAQ. If you don't have access to a licensed copy of ArcGIS Pro, you can sign up for the ArcGIS Profree trial.

Download

You can download ArcGIS Pro from My Esri or ArcGIS Online. Additional download components, such as the offline help system and language packs, can only be downloaded from My Esri.

You can download ArcGIS Pro in the available language of your choice. Language packs are optional, smaller downloads that allow you to switch between languages. For example, you might want to be able to run ArcGIS Pro in either an English-language or a Spanish-language version. For more information, see Language options.

Download from My Esri

Follow these steps to download ArcGIS Pro and optional components from My Esri. For more detailed instructions with graphics, see How To: Download and install Esri software from My Esri.

  1. Go to My Esri.
  2. Click the My Organizations tab and click the Downloads tab under it.
  3. In the list of available products, next to ArcGIS Pro, confirm that the version number (for example, 2.6) is correct. Click View Downloads.
  4. In the list of product components, next to ArcGIS Pro, click Download.
  5. Optionally, download other product components, such as ArcGIS Pro offline help.

By default, ArcGIS Pro uses an online help system. If you are working in a disconnected environment, install the offline help system. For more information, see About ArcGIS Pro Help.

Download from ArcGIS Online

Alternatively, you can download ArcGIS Pro in the language of your choice from ArcGIS Online.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. At the top of the page, click your user name and click My settings.
  3. On the My settings page, click the Licenses tab.
  4. Next to ArcGIS Pro, click Download.

Install

ArcGIS Pro can be installed as a per-machine installation or as a per-user installation. A per-machine installation allows all users on the machine to use ArcGIS Pro. A per-user installation allows only the installer to use ArcGIS Pro. The default installation locations for each option can be found in Install ArcGIS Pro silently using command line parameters under INSTALLDIR. The steps below reflect a per-machine installation.

You should install ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Pro Intelligence before you install any optional setups.

For ArcGIS Pro to be installed per user on supported Windows Server operating systems, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer must contain the REG_DWORD data type DisableMSI, with a value of 0. For more information, see the MSDN topic DisableMSI.

  1. Review the ArcGIS Prosystem requirements to verify operating system and other environmental prerequisites.
  2. Start the ArcGIS Pro installation program and click Next when you are ready to proceed.
  3. Review the license agreement and accept it if you agree. Click Next to continue with the installation. You must exit if you do not agree with the terms.
  4. Select the installation context in which ArcGIS Pro will install, whether per-machine (all users) or per-user. By default, the per-machine option is selected. Click Next to continue.

If the user running the setup does not have administrative privileges, a per-machine instance of ArcGIS Pro cannot be installed.

  5. Select whether to install ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro Intelligence, or both.

By default, ArcGIS Pro is installed and ArcGIS Pro Intelligence is not installed. Learn more about ArcGIS Pro Intelligence.

  6. Click Change to specify the installation folder or click Next to accept the default location of C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\.

If the installation folder is changed, neither ArcGIS nor Pro is appended to the modified path. It is recommended that the selected custom installation location include a folder and not the root location of a drive.

  7. Click Install to begin the installation. Note that the Esri User Experience Improvement check box is checked by default.
  8. Click Finish to close the wizard when the installation completes. Leave the Run ArcGIS Pro now check box checked if you want to start the application immediately.
  9. Optionally, install the offline help system for ArcGIS Pro by browsing to its installation folder and executing the ArcGISProHelp.msi file.

You have the option to install the offline help system for ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Pro Intelligence, or both. By default, only the offline help system for ArcGIS Pro is installed.

You do not need to uninstall the previous version of ArcGIS Pro before installing the latest release. However, if you have installed any language packs for the previous version of ArcGIS Pro, it is recommended that you uninstall them before installing ArcGIS Pro. Only one version of ArcGIS Pro can be installed on a machine at a time; when you install a new version, the old version is overwritten.

Authorize

After you download and install ArcGIS Pro, you must have an authorized license to begin using the application.

If you have an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise account, you can start ArcGIS Pro with a Named User license. If your credentials do not work, contact your administrator. A license may not have been assigned to you, or you may need to authorize a Single Use or Concurrent Use license instead of a Named User license.

If you are an administrator, the steps to authorize licenses depend on the type of license you are using. By default, ArcGIS Pro uses Named User licensing, but you also have the option to use Single Use or Concurrent Use licensing.

Download ArcGIS Pro

You can download ArcGIS Pro either from My Esri or your ArcGIS Online organization.

By default, the English-language version of the application is downloaded. Optionally, you can run ArcGIS Pro in a different language by downloading a language pack. There are two ways to do this:

  • Download a localized version of ArcGIS Pro.
  • Download ArcGIS Pro and download a language pack separately.

A localized version bundles ArcGIS Pro and a language pack in one executable (.exe) file.

Other software components—such as the offline help application, additional language packs, and specialized data and database support files—must be downloaded from My Esri.

Once the application is downloaded, you can install ArcGIS Pro. If you download a localized version or a language pack, see Install a localized version of ArcGIS Pro for additional information.

Download ArcGIS Pro from My Esri

Follow these steps to download ArcGIS Pro and other software components from My Esri. For supplementary help, see How To: Download and install Esri software from My Esri.

  1. Go to My Esri.

You can complete a form to request download permission from your software administrator, or you can click the Contact My Administrator button to send a direct message.

  3. In the list of available products, next to ArcGIS Pro, confirm that the version number (for example, 2.8) is correct. Click View Downloads.

If you have not previously agreed to the terms and conditions of the master agreement, a pop-up window appears. After reviewing the terms and conditions, check the box and click Accept if you want to continue.

  4. Under Download, review the Language setting. If you want to download a localized version of ArcGIS Pro, change the setting to the language you want.
  5. In the list of product components, under Files, next to ArcGIS Pro, click Download.

Software download policies differ among organizations. ArcGIS Online administrators can make a security setting to prevent members from downloading ArcGIS Pro on their own.

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. At the top of the page, click your user name and click My settings.
  3. On the My settings page, click the Licenses tab.

Your user type, role, and assigned licenses are listed. If you don't see ArcGIS Pro listed under your licensed products, or if the Download button does not appear, contact your ArcGIS organization administrator.
