Dog & Cat Adoptions
Representatives from Country Acres Rescue do their best to ensure that all C.A.R. pets and their new owners are the perfect match. For this reason, the adoption process can take anywhere from a couple of hours to several days in order to finalize the adoption of the pet “for life.” If you are interested in adopting a particular pet, or if you just want more information about that pet, please complete our online Adoption Questionnaire at the bottom of this screen (be sure to mention the pet you are interested in!). You can send the Questionnaire to us by e-mail or by snail mail, or you can submit it in person. Once received, a C.A.R. Representative will contact you to answer any questions you may have.
Incomplete applications will not be considered, so take the time to include phone numbers, addresses, and requested information. Information discovered to be falsified or omitted will result in an automatic denial.ADOPTION APPLICATION
We do not adopt on a first-come, first-serve basis. There have been times when we’ve received multiple adoption applications for a particular animal. We try to look at an animal’s unique personality and needs, matching this with the best living situation. This means that the pet will have fewer returns due to incorrect placement, causing much less stress for the pet(s). It also means we sometimes bruise a few hearts, and we are sorry for this. Our commitment, first and foremost, lies with the pets we serve.
All animals are examined by a veterinarian from Webster Groves Animal Hospital. We make every effort to ensure good health before placement and we seek owners who will continue this practice after adopting from us.
GIVING ANIMALS A BETTER TOMORROW
Countless animals are abused, neglected and abandoned each year. Together, we can give them a better tomorrow.
At the Manchester Animal Shelter, we believe all animals are deserving of life, respect and care. Our goal is zero-population-growth through spay/neuter programs and services that focus on education, medical care, fostering and adoption. Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization which started in 1996. The shelter takes in homeless, abused, and abandoned animals in the city of Manchester. We provide shelter, medical care, and spay/neuter to every animal that comes through our doors. In operation for over two decades, the shelter has helped provide care and find loving homes for over 25,000 animals.
If you're interested in adopting a dog. Come during our open hours Saturdays and Sundays from 12-3pm. Available dogs will be in our outdoor play yards to be viewed. Available cats will be in our feline adoption center. Our canine and feline teams will assist with any questions and discuss our adoption process.
Due to Covid 19 we are doing adoptions based on appointment only. Please call the shelter 603-628-3544 with any questions.

Support Adoption and Rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why Should You Adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
